The Occupational Health, Safety & Environment Fair brings together more than 260 employees
From 15 to 26 June 2026, Prony Resources New Caledonia (PRNC) held the 3rd edition of its Health, Safety & Environment at Work (HSE) Fair. The event took place over two weeks: the first at the Plant, followed by a second week at the Mine. In total, 262 employees and contractors participated in the 15 workshops and exhibition booths on offer.
Each year, the HSE Fair provides our teams with an opportunity to strengthen their safety culture, deepen their understanding of workplace risks, and discover practical solutions to improve prevention in their day-to-day activities.
A Third Edition Marked by the ddition of Environmental Responsibility
A key new feature of this year's event was the integration of environmental responsibility as a core theme alongside health and safety. This reflects PRNC's commitment to environmental stewardship, the first pillar of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy.
A Diverse Programme of Workshops
Health and Wellbeing
Participants were able to attend workshops on addiction awareness, receive a physical fitness assessment provided by the New Caledonia Health and Social Agency (ASSNC), meet with nutrition specialists at a booth hosted by our contractor Newrest, benefit from cardiovascular screening conducted by the site's Medical Centre, and take part in a workshop dedicated to workplace wellbeing.
Safety and Risk Prevention
PRNC's Emergency Response Brigade (BIPR) delivered first-aid demonstrations, while additional workshops focused on chemical risk management, including lockout/tagout procedures, work permits and hazardous substances management. Participants were also introduced to Cority, PRNC's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) management system, and tested their knowledge through an interactive safety quiz entitled "Safety Champions."
Environment and Sustainability
Several booths showcased environmental initiatives, including the work carried out by PRNC's plant nursery. Representatives from the Customary Environmental Advisory Committee (CCCE) also shared best practices on waste management and environmental protection.
Equality and Inclusion
Dedicated workshops addressed the prevention of workplace sexism and promoted the inclusion of people with disabilities, reinforcing PRNC's commitment to providing a respectful, inclusive and accessible workplace for everyone.
Participant Feedback
A member of the Emergency Response Brigade commented:
"We received many excellent questions and very positive feedback, particularly from our colleagues at the Mine, who were eager to learn more. Some participants asked about communication tools available during emergency situations, giving us the opportunity to present practical solutions and share useful resources."
For Baptiste Delannoy, facilitator of the Cority workshop (PRNC's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) management system), events like this are essential:
"Events like this are extremely valuable because they bring together PRNC and its contractors around key topics such as health and safety. Safety is something we must work on every day, which is why it's important to create regular opportunities to communicate and raise awareness."
A mining equipment operator particularly appreciated this year's new features:
"There were workshops we hadn't seen before, such as the mobility exercises organised by ASSNC and the new environmental sessions. We also learned that incidents can now be reported through Cority and tracked afterwards. The fair also gave us a welcome opportunity to step away from our routine, and the quiz was a great reminder of important safety rules, such as not wearing headphones while driving."
Other participants highlighted the collaborative spirit of the event:
"The fair provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen connections across teams. It allowed us to exchange valuable experiences and reminded us how essential collaboration is to achieving our common goals. Safety remained the priority throughout the event, and this gathering reinforced our shared commitment to succeeding together—safely."
