Visits by High Commissioner Jacques Billant and South Province Deputy Commissioner Catherine Merckx to the Prony Resources Industrial Site

Prony Resources was pleased to welcome Jacques Billant, High Commissioner of the Republic, accompanied by Catherine Merckx, Deputy Commissioner for South Province, to its industrial and mining site on October 10.

These visits provided an opportunity to present the challenges faced by PRNC and the nickel industry, while also highlighting the company’s performance and ongoing projects.Visite Haut Commissaire 1

Through a Economic and Social Development Fund (Fonds de développement économique et social) loan, paid in three instalments in 2024 and 2025, the French State is supporting PRNC’s production efforts, ongoing recruitment initiatives, and development, as a key player in New Caledonia’s nickel industry.

During the visit, Prony Resources teams presented several key areas of their activities:

  • HSE inductions led by Nicolas Marin, HSE Manager
    • Mine presentation by Bertrand Roquel
    • Lucy Project presentation by Guillaume Perez
    • Discussions on the KO2 basin with Monia Sayari, Geosciences Manager
    • Overview of the hydrometallurgical process by Arnaud De Sainte Marie, Industrial Operations Director
    • Tour of the industrial and port facilities

This meeting provided an opportunity to share the company’s technical and environmental challenges, as well as the innovations being implemented as part of its development.

The visit highlighted PRNC’s key role both in New Caledonia and internationally.
